answerIt should be clear to every student, parent, and teacher what the standards of success are in every school.
The Common Core State Standards provide opportunity to ensure all students, no matter where they live, are prepared for success in post-secondary education and the workforce. The standards are designed to be robust and relevant to the real world, reflecting the knowledge and skills our young people need to experience success in college and the workforce.
Currently, each state has its own set of standards. Consequently, what students are expected to learn varies state to state. The new standards articulate the same expectations for all students and ensure they are receiving a high quality education consistently, no matter where they live.
